We start with the title track “Chimping” which introduces us to some of the mellow vibes we can expect to hear more of later on in the EP. The bassline progresses with the support of the percussion, building into a track that is both easy on but also satisfying to the ears. A worthy EP opener. We move into darker territory with “Tunnel”, a tune that comes with a militant-esque feel and a bassline that gradually evolves into nothing but sheer groove. I’m a big fan of this!

A 2015 edit of “The Riddler” is up next, a tune which originally came out as a free download around 3 years ago. This one is another that packs heavy on the groove, a feature that is ever-present in much of Thing’s back catalogue. As the Estonian producer looks to experiment with the variation he’s become synonymous with, he introduces us to the 4th track, “The Walk” which brings the tempo down whilst retaining the wayward atmospherics and sound effects throughout. Closing the EP is “Ping Pong” with a kick-led intro and yet another bassline full of twists and turns.

A solid EP from Thing but I’ve come to expect nothing less.
